For this comparison we use nonmaxima suppression in combination with the linear approximation scheme while it is switched off when used for early rejection to achieve maximum recall. To reduce confusion between categories and the number of false-positives, we adapt a bootstrapping strategy. First we train an initial model for each category versus the other categories.

This model is then used to generate false-positives on the training set (see also Osuna et al. 1997; Fritz et al. 2005; Dalal and Triggs 2005).

Up to 500 of the strongest false detection are added for each detector to its training set, and the model is retrained. The average precisions of the nal detector of all 10 categories on the test set are shown in Table 17.2, and the corresponding precision-recall curves are plotted in Figure 17.
